Unable to Download setupBasic.exe

Post by g8jcf »

Hi

When I click the 'Basic Tools' button, the browser tries to goto http://www.coridium.us/files/setupBASIC.exe but there is no response from the Coridium server - Error code: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Is there a problem, or is it just me ?

Many thanks

Peter

I think it is just you.

When you reported the NSIS problem, I went to my old HP mini running XP and Firefox, downloaded and installed.

I just downloaded on a Dell PC running Win7 and on Chrome and it works fine too, both download and install.

I am always sensitive when I update the tools, but that hasn't happened for over 2 months (I was on vacation for 3 weeks), and have had no one else report it. I checked the logs and it shows that it was downloaded 238 times in October and so far 84 times this month.

Could you give me some details? I believe you are overseas, but I doubt that makes any difference.

I would email it to you, but hardly any email programs I know of would allow an attachment of that size.

Have you got an ftp site I can send it to?

The only other thing I can think of is, I have seen some anti-virus programs disable running downloaded .exe files. For those you need to disable them during the process. Or maybe you have some other anomaly in your system, like a virus.

Hi Bruce

Thanks for the reply.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I tried both Chrome and IE and both reported the same error.

I run AVAST anti-virus.

I've never had a problem downloading files before.

I run my own SMTP server so U can definitely email me large filers.

Send stuff to G8JCF (at) G8JCFSDR (dot) DYNDNS (dot) ORG please

Thanks

Hi Bruce

I must have a very aggressive Anti-Virus tool - AVAST.

I downloaded setupBasic.exe using a different computer and it has been successfully downloaded and installed.

Apologies !

Thank you for your help

Hi Bruce

You were correct to suspect Anti-Virus.

My Anti-Virus, AVAST, thinks that setupBASIC.exe in particular ARMBasic.exe is infected with "Win32:Evo-gen[Susp]" and blocked it see attached screenshot.

I've checked in c:\program files(x86)\coridium, and ARMBasic.exe is missing :(

Not sure how to proceed now.

Can you turn of AVAST during the install?

Or install on another PC and then copy ARMbasic.exe which is the BASIC compiler into Program Files (x86)/Coridium directory

Or download it from the forum, I post compiler updates here, I think the latest is at

As a follow up, we create ARMbasic with Mingw the open source gcc for windows. There are various threads around discussing avast's problem with false positives on mingw created executables.
