While I have been using Win11 for a month of so now, basically it is OK. But there are a couple issues I have run into, that is in helping others in my neighborhood keep there PCs running.
Latest was a PC running REALLL SLLLOOOOOWWWW. Most cases of this has to do with too little RAM and a hard disk wearing out. Their PC was fairly new (4 years I think) running Win11. As delivered from Dell it had a 1TB hard drive and the default setting is to enable Bitlocker encryption. What a pain, that means I can't clone it the usual way with Rescuezilla. And what caused the pre-mature age of this hard disk is that while it has Win 11 it only had 4GB of RAM, so obviously the virtual memory was banging on the hard disk ALL the time.
So first to do is disable Bitlocker on the next Win11 system I see. That kept all the disk clone programs from working, or at least I couldn't get around it even with it turned off. BUT DiskGenius was able to move the System to a new SSD. Though I had to boot in SAFE mode to get it to come up at first, but after that Microsoft said all was forgiven and it booted normally seemingly all settings in place.
I think that shipping a Win11 PC with only 4GB of RAM is malpractice.
Another slow down is everything out on OneDrive, which is among the worst pieces of software ever devised. I don't blane the software engineers, but I do blame marketing that probably thinks that is a great idea. Wrong, if I want to share a file between my phone and PC, I want to control that, not have it done automatically with ALL my files.
